Study
of Self
Study of scriptures should be preceded by study
of self. Study of self has to be dispassionate. Study the thoughts that are
generally entertained. Study their quality, enquire the self if it is satisfied
by their quality. The conscience will not accept entertainment of thoughts of
inferior quality. Study dispassionately the thoughts that hover around you. Put
up their quality before your conscience; examine their worthiness. It shows to
you the inferior nature that is hidden in you. Inferior nature brings up
inferior thoughts. Many times your nature is more powerful than you. You may
not be able to avoid, eliminate or overcome this nature. The only way in such
situation is to pray the Omnipotent. The power of the Omnipotent potentiates
your will, enabling you to overcome the undesirable nature in you. This is a
game of patience which you have to play with yourself. It helps you to relate
better to the surroundings. It helps you to gain the mind which is fit to read
the scriptures.
